ABSTRACT Methods of preparation of the polyetherols containing heterocyclic rings in their structure as well as of their low-molecular precursors containing hydroxyalkyl groups are presented. The heterocyclic rings provide the polymeric materials obtained from them with enhanced thermal stability. The procedures, catalysts, and solvents are described and main directions and possibilities of applications of the compounds are discussed. The emphasis is put on the mechanism of reactions, their kinetics, and reactivity of individual species.
