ABSTRACT Chronic occupational or environmental exposure to lead compounds may lead to concentration disorders and intelligence quotient decrease. Moreover, lead disturbs oxidative – antioxidative balance in the direction of oxidation becoming the cause of many pathological states. The so far applied therapy in case of intoxication with lead compounds has been burdened with numerous side effects. In own investigations an attempt has been undertaken to limit consequences of lead acetate administration to experimental animals through application of plant preparation from Baikal Scutellaria enriched by 75-80% of baikaline (Anatozyd S) – produced by Bioactive Products Factory. It has been observed that alternating administration of lead acetate with preparation from Baikal Scutellaria to rats decreases excretion of delta-aminolaevulinic acid, lead and 8-hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG) with urine in relation to the group of animals who were administered only lead acetate.
