ABSTRACT Excipients play a vital role in drug formulation and are utilized for numerous functions. Conditions and instrumentation for fast ion chromatography are applied in this study to analyze a sum total of 30 common medicaments, including anti-inflammatory drugs, herbs, and other non-prescription agents. The instrument parameters produced chromatograms having resolved and distinct peaks for sodium, potassium, ammonium, calcium, chloride, nitrate, sulfate, fluoride, and phosphate. The molarity of ion species was determined, which enables the monitoring of excipient content, concentration, and oversight pertaining to adulteration and good manufacturing practices. Quality control of drug formulation is an important aspect of production and the methodology presented here is effective for that goal. The presence of cations and anions from herbal agents was variable, whereas those found in vitamins consistently showed cations magnesium, potassium, and calcium, but variation in anions. Considerable variation of cations and anions was noticed in common drugs. Distilled and 18 mΩ water proved to be effective for solubilization of all samples and preparing instrumental reagents. The exceptional importance and broad functionality of excipients ensure their application in drug production. This study presents an efficacious approach to monitor and manage their content in pharmaceutical preparations.
