ABSTRACT A dioleyl-phosphate (DOPH) adsorbed porous membrane elicits an electric oscillation of membrane potential under a salt concentration difference by application of an electric current and a pressure difference across the membrane. A theoretical model based on a phase transition of DOPH could explain the oscillation. Further, effect of calcium on the membrane construction was investigated. Taste sensation and anesthetic action were also studied using this membrane. A possibility of the membrane as an excitable device of neuro-computer is presented.
