ABSTRACT Antiflammins are a new family of peptides that share a common sequence with uteroglobin and lipocortin-1, which retain the anti-inflammatory action of these proteins This article summarizes our current knowledge of the properties and activities of these nonapeptides on cellular and molecular elements involved in the inflammatory process such as phospholipases A2, arachidonic acid mobilization, arachidonate metabolism and eicosanoid synthesis, adhesion molecule expression and cell influx.
