ABSTRACT In this series of measurements we compared rheological properties of glycerol and paraffin with two formulations: one containing glycerol to paraffin in proportions 1:1, and the other formulation containing glycerol to paraffin in proportions 2:1. The viscosity was measured as a function of temperature in the interval from 60 °C to 80 °C. Also, the elastic and viscous properties were investigated by determining the storage modulus (G’) and the loss modulus (G”) as a function of temperature, strain or frequency. The overall observation is that these substances and formulations have Newton-like behavior in the range of temperatures between 60 °C and 80 °C. The loss tangent was determined for these four samples at two different temperatures, 60 °C and 80 °C, and it is shown that the difference is large for glycerol, while it is negligible for paraffin.
