ABSTRACT Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4NPs) were synthesized by co-precipitation of ferric and ferrous salts in an alkaline medium. Fe3O4 NPs were surface modified using Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether epoxy resin (BADGE) and algal organisms, namely, Sargassum dentifolium and Ulva fasciata. The surface functional groups were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy, yielding particles that were of size 20.33 ± 18 nm in diameter.
