ABSTRACT Many modified crown and thiacrown ethers containing a metallocene in the main chain are reported. While these crown and thiacrown ethers show little or no extractability toward alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions, they make stable and interesting complexes with transition metals. The complex of trithia[n]ferrocenophanes with Pd(BF4)2 involves a weak dative bond between the Fe and Pd atoms.
