ABSTRACT

The dianion of bis(phenylethynyl)naphthacene was formed by the contact of its neutral precursor with sodium in THF-d8 and characterized by its 1H and 13C NMR and reactivity. The excess-charge density distribution calculated by the CNDO/2 method for the dianion is consistent with the observed 1H and 13C chemical shift values.
