ABSTRACT

A brief description of optical waveguide (OWG) techniques and examples of their physicochemical applications are given. In particular, highly sensitive flash photolysis was carried out on the surface of OWGs, and OWG electrodes were constructed for spectroelectrochemical measurements. Adiabatic transition of light in OWGs was used to design OWG systems with large surface sensitivity.
