ABSTRACT

The theory for photothermal spectroscopy is reviewed. The possibilities of applying photothermal spectroscopy to real time data collection is considered for reactions in condensed media. The stated interest is solid state reactions, but the analysis applies equally well to reactions in a diverse range of media and experimental designs such as reactions in solutions, at electrode or catalytic surfaces, in continuously stirred reactors, etc.
