ABSTRACT The development and evaluation of microwave induced plasma (MIP)-based analytical atomic emission, and adsorption spectrometers are described. Sample introduction methods used are solution nebulization, desolvation and condensation, and hydride generation. Advantages of the MIP include low power (< 200 W), low gas consumption (< 0.6 L/min. in most cases), and inert gas operations.
