ABSTRACT

Hydrogen-bond research is still in expansion and this is due to larger computer facilities, development of program of high quality devoted to the study of molecular interactions at the level of theory and also very fast development of new and accurate experimental methods. Hydrogen-bond research has also a particular place in the field of molecular interactions because its field of application is very large, involving gas, liquid and solid phases. This particular chemical bond is involved in biological reactions which are at the starting point of the explanation of life as well as in mechanisms of conduction in superconductors, for example. The purpose of this paper will be first reduced to a review of last developments in electronic calculations for isolated hydrogen-bonded systems. In a second part, it is reported how some relevant features of vibrational spectra may be deduced from these electronic calculations and a comparison is made with experimental results. In a third part, two points are reviewed, which may be developed in a near future in a view of better understanding of hydrogen-bonded systems vibrational spectra.
