ABSTRACT

Free radical initiation of vinyl monomers by the presence  of  redox couples in divided and undivided electrochemical cells  are reviewed.

In the presence of very low (catalytic) amounts of initiator concentrations, electrochemically induced polymerization of vinyl monomers was resulted in higher yields than redox initiation systems.

In this system the presence of redox couple is necessity for the progress of polymerization, ensuring the electron transfer to or from electrode .

Electroinduced copolymerization of vinyl monomers  in homogeneous and dispersive media and their characterizations were  also discussed.
