The historical development of Vop-Spectroellipsometry (SE) from the suggestion of the new function Vop to the present will be briefly reviewed. This article includes the determination of Vop, reflection Vop-SE, transmission Vop-SE, especially the application of the transmission Vop-SE for studying mass transfer in electrolyte and reaction occurred in liquid phase, its also a very powerful technique for studying solution chemistry and biomedical reactions. The whole work were carried out at the Electrochemical laboratory in Chongqing University of PR China.
