ABSTRACT

The spin-lattice and spin-spin relaxation times of water protons in aqueous solutions of albumin isolated from blood serum of healthy donors and patients with first-episode schizophrenia, as well as those of fatty-acid free albumin (Sigma) loaded with palmitic acid were measured. The rotational correlation rates of water molecules in these albumin solutions and the degree of hydration of albumin molecules were evaluated. It was shown that water dynamics in the solutions of “pathological” albumin differs from those of the solutions of albumin isolated from blood serum of healthy donors and albumin loaded with palmitic acid.
