ABSTRACT

The recent growing interest in amorphous and liquid materials has triggered new studies aiming at the determination of local structures. Due to the large varieties of the non- crystalline materials the motivations of such studies were of different types, but in all cases reliable and relatively fast determination of the local structures were required. In this review we present the application of the Wide Angle X- ray Scattering (WAXS) by energy dispersive detection as a tool to investigate a large variety of amorphous and liquid materials. We present, among them, samples of biological and pharmaceutical interest, different types of catalysts, molecular liquids, polymers with different industrial applications as well as metalphtalocyanines and materials devoted to the organic synthesis such as the cetylalkylammonium tribromides.
