ABSTRACT

This paper presents a simple mathematical model for correlating values of the nondimensional Gibbs function, which will be a polynomial function of the so-called active fraction, which is in turn related to the concentration of the mixture via a parameter kij. This model is intended for use in processing experimental values obtained in the mixing processes, with particular reference to isobaric and isothermic conditions and the corresponding mixing properties associated by means of the relations established by the Thermodynamic of Solutions. The function generated for the nondimensional Gibbs function takes the form:

where

depending on whether temperature dependency or pressure dependency is used. The usefulness of the model was assessed by applying it to a specific set of real systems taken from the literature, achieving excellent results for the cases considered.
