ABSTRACT

By means of column (CC), thin- layer (TLC), high- performance liquid (HPLC) and ion exchange chromatography (IEC) the authors investigated the antenna pigments (chlorophylls, carotenoids, phycobiliproteins). They investigated three species of cycads (Cycas circinalis, Ceratozomia kuesteriana, Zamia pumila) belonging to gymnosperms and three species of Gunnera genus (Gunnera arenaria, Gunnera magellanica, Gunnera tinctoria)- as representatives of angiosperms in which cyanobacteria are the symbionts. The phytochromes were also studied in this six plants, and in cyanobacteria of Nostoc sp. as symbionts. Three groups of antenna pigments (chlorophyll a and b, 14 carotenoids, 4 phycobiliprotein pigments) absorbing rays of PAR beams from the environment are present in these plants. In the tissue of plants and in nostocacean cyanobacteria (Nostoc sp.) as photobiont of those plants the presence of phytochromes was found.
