A review of the recent (since 1992) advances in the chemistry of thionitrosyl complexes will be given. Novel thionitrosyl complexes of the transition metals will be described including their structure, reactivity, optical, photochemical and magnetic properties. The results of recent theoretical calculations on the free nitrogen monosulfide radical NS are included.
