ABSTRACT

This review referring to papers describing the application of potentiometric method for observation of intermolecular recognition processes occurring at the border water/organic phases between two neutral molecules. The main objective of the paper is the elucidation and comparison of the mechanism of the generation of potentiometric signals of corrole- calix[4]pyrrole- calix[4]phyrins, metaloporphyrines containing liquid membrane electrodes in the presence of the neutral forms of phenol derivatives. The relationship between the acid-base properties of the phenolic guests and the hydrogen bond donor activity of the host molecules and its influence on the molecular recognition phenomenon occurring at the organic/ aqueous interface will be discussed.
