ABSTRACT

By means of columnar (CC), thin- layer (TLC) and high- performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the presence of carotenoids in different stages of 11 insects species was studied. 29 carotenoids in investigated materials were identified. There are qualitative and quantitative differences in the carotenoid contents of the particular stages of investigated insects. In some species of insects such rare carotenoids as β, γ-carotene, γ,γ-carotene, γ,ψ-carotene, chrysanthemaxanthin and enschscholtzxanthin were reported.
