ABSTRACT

K2CO3 was found to be an efficient base for acylation of sulfonamides, amines, phenols and alcohols at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. Carboxylic acid anhydrides and chlorides served as acylating agents and the products were obtained in good to high yields after an easy work-up. The present method is an example of solid-state acylation, and is a green chemical process due to the use of non-toxic inorganic base under solvent-free conditions.
