ABSTRACT

Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a nonreceptor protein-tyrosine kinase that plays a key role regulating integrin control of cell behavior. FAK signaling involves an interactive  partnership with Src-family protein tyrosine kinases. Signaling from the complex FAK/Src complex stimulates both cell proliferation and cell motility, utilizing many of the same pathways similar employed by growth receptor tyrosine kinases.
