ABSTRACT

The enzymatic treatment of environmental pollutants and waste using oxidoreductases, such as LiP, MnP, CIP and laccase is an extremely attractive and promising method in several respects. However, a breakthrough concerning the reduction of the overall treatment cost is necessary for practical environmental application. Therefore, numerous studies have been conducted concerning the discovery of a new source of enzyme, the optimization of the enzyme production and the reaction conditions. This review provides an overview of recent advances in enzymatic treatment using oxidoreductases, highlighting the approaches for the reduction of the treatment cost.
