ABSTRACT

Alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes formed by deprotonation of alcoholic ligands have been one of the most fascinating compounds in these days since their physical simplicity and chemical variety make them potentially useful probes for the study of magnetic superexchange interaction between magnetic ions. Structural and magnetic properties of the alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes have been extensively investigated by many workers. Detailed reviews of the magnetic properties of alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes are already available elsewhere in the literature (Hodgson 1975, Bertrand and Eller l976, Melnik 1982, Nieminen 1983). Another remarkable characteristics of the alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes is a distinct absorption band which appears in  the near-ultraviolet region. So far there has been no article to survey spectral properties of alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes. In this reason, we have aimed for a review of covering an aspect of spectral properties of alkoxo-bridged copper(II) complexes.
