ABSTRACT Nitroso compounds have attracted great attention not only because of the different coordination mode of the NO group to metals (usually reported as σ-N, σ-O, π-O-N) but also because of their potential use as nitrene precursors in organic synthesis. Therefore, the synthesis of novel nitroso compounds such as nitrosopyrazoles and their complexes with metals represents an important focus of research in the field of nitroso chemistry in view of understanding the interesting different coordination modes of the NO group present in nitrosopyrazole molecule to metals. In light of the above, the preparation of palladium complexes of 1,3,5 substituted -4- nitrosopyrazoles including some spectroscopic data is herein reported. Among the compounds herein described, we have focused our attention on 1,3,5 substituted -4- nitrosopyrazoles because, as ligands, they can potentially form complexes not only with metals but also with other molecules through different coordination modes involving nitrogen atoms of pyrazole ring and the NO group (σ-N, σ-O, π-O-N). So, according to our point of view, the contribution of this paper constitutes an important complement to nitroso chemistry.
