The article under review is dedicated to the main biochemical and pharmacological properties of uracil. The pharmacodynamics of its derivative methyluracil in different medications is highlighted. It also focuses on the antineoplastic activity mechanisms of fluorouracil and its derivatives containing fluorine. Furthermore, the cardiotropic, antihypoxic and antivirus properties of the uracil-based compounds are described.
