ABSTRACT

The good management of the nutrients applied to plants could improved crop production by increasing growth rates, reducing the amount and cost of applied nutrients, as well as the quantity of unused nutrients which accumulate in the soil, ground and surface water. The suction cups allow an adequate sample of representative soil solutions for the diagnosis of soil fertility in intensive horticultural greenhouses trough the determination of nutrients parameters:   pH, E.C and the nutrients solution concentration (NO3, H2PO4-, K+, Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, NH4+, and Cl-) The study of these parameters and their evolution along the crop in real time; its distribution in the soil as much in surface as in  depth allows to establish handling approaches in commercial green houses fertigation management. However, the employment of this technique presents some problems that were reported, such as alteration of the sample by the sampling system, the time of sampling the size of pore of the ceramic.
