ABSTRACT

This review deals with the recent topics on the new methodologies for the chemical synthesis of polysaccharides. Various polysaccharides having a well-defined structure have successfully been synthesized via oxazoline glycosylation, enzymatic polymerization, and ring-opening polymerization of anhydro sugars. Furthermore, sugar specific reactions between saccharide compounds with amines have been employed for the construction of new aminopolysaccharides.
