ABSTRACT In neuroimaging, MR hydrography is used to highlight signals from cerebrospinal fluid. This technique can be applied to surface anatomy scanning (SAS) of the brain, MR myelography, and MR cisternography. SAS provides images of the sulci and gyri of the brain surface. MR myelography is used to generate MR images that are similar to conventional myelograms. MR cisternography visualizes the subarachnoid cisterns and their contents. When properly added to conventional imaging protocols, these techniques can effectively demonstrate many intracranial and spinal lesions.
