ABSTRACT

Recent advances in the understanding of heat and mass transfer enhancement by self-sustained oscillations are described. The emphasis in the paper is on fundamental transport processes in channels with periodic structures, i.e., wavy-walled channels, grooved channels, etc. The important role played by unsteady vortical motion is discussed and problem areas needing research attention are identified, i.e., effect of three-dimensionality.
