ABSTRACT

The use of the structurally characterized oxo(salen)chromium(V) cation and its derivatives as models of oxygen transfer catalysis is described. The structure of the complexes is considered in relation to the stoichiometric oxidation of alkenes, alkynes, ylides and aldehydes. Possible mechanistic relationships involved in oxidation of these various substrates are discussed.
