ABSTRACT

Silylstannanes (1), disilanes (6), and distannanes (15) are useful reagents for silylation and/or stannylation reactions in the presence of a palladium or platinum catalyst. 1,4-Silylstannation of 1,3-dienes with 1, 1,2-silylstanation of alkenes with 1, dimerization-double silylation of 1,3-dienes with 6, carbosilylation of 1,3-dienes with 6, silylation of allylic esters with 6, and dimerization-double stannylation of 1,3-dienes with 15 are described. These catalytic reactions involve cleavages of σ-bonds between the Group 14 elements. Structure and fluxional behavior of complexes relevant to active catalyst species are also discussed.
