ABSTRACT

This paper provides a review of some emerging applications of structured catalysts and reactors, based on catalytically-active porous barriers. Attention is mostly focused on rather new concepts (e.g. membrane reactors, catalytic filters, catalytic burners), but also almost consolidated technologies are briefly described (e.g. honeycomb monolithic reactors). The growing perspectives of the above reactors are finally discussed.
