ABSTRACT

An extensive set of equation of state data for pure fluids and binary mixtures have been obtained for simple molecular fluids. In the case of pure fluids the data have been used to discuss the validity of theoretical models based on a spherical reference system, and to compare the performance of several perturbed hard-body equations of state with a more rigorous perturbation theory. The excess functions of binary mixtures have been discussed in terms of predictions or a perturbation theory, pointing out that the interplay of shape and multipolar moments is beyond its predictive capacity. The predictive ability of some mixture models are tested.
