ABSTRACT 2,2-(4,4-Dihydroxydiphenyl)propane, namely bisphenol A (BPA), is widely included in plastic products and has recently attracted a great deal of public attention due to its estrogenic effect. The determination of BPA has been carried out by a gas chromatography, a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). These methods involve a number of processes including sampling, sample preparation, separation, detection and data analysis. In general, most of analysis time is spent on sample preparation steps such as extraction, concentration and clean-up. This review aims to focus on the determination of BPA by HPLC with may kinds of detections such as ultraviolet, fluorescence, chemiluminescence, electrochemical and mass spectrometry. According to the contemporary reports, the characteristics of detections were described. The applications in environmental biological and food fields were also involved as well as sample preparation procedure.
