ABSTRACT

In recent years, several new advanced control techniques have been developed in response to the increasing demand for advanced process control. It is essential to simulate these complex control algorithms efficiently in terms of simulation time and programming efforts. In this paper, the feasibility of applying SpeedUp to perform on-line advanced control and real-time optimization is demonstrated by examining three case studies with the application of Generic Model Control (GMC) and its extensions. All computer simulations are carried out using SpeedUp. Simulation results show similar control performances obtained from the literature sources. The average computer CPU time for a simulation run and the amount of source code are significantly reduced using the SpeedUp simulation system, compared to the conventional simulation approaches.
