ABSTRACT 129Xe chemical shift tensor is very sensitive to the site symmetry and the shape of pores, channels, voids, and cages which can accommodate xenon atoms. Xenon atom confined in micro-voids and/or cages broadens 129Xe NMR spectra due to chemical shift anisotropy (CSA). 129Xe chemical shift tensor and its anisotropy provide us useful information about not only the shape of the micropore but also the host-guest interactions. In this article, we review some recent papers, in which the shape of the micropore is discussed on the basis of 129Xe chemical shift tensor, and show usefulness and advantage of 129Xe chemical shift tensor as a probe to examine the physico-properties of micropores.
