ABSTRACT The intensity variations of N2 and N2+ bands with the current density (j) under discharge and post-discharge conditions of a pulsed dc N2-H2 diode plasma have been analyzed. It is found that for specific conditions, first a linear variation of N2 bands with j is related to electron collisions on N2 ground and metastable states. Second, the N2+ band is varying as j2 as a result of two step electron collisions. In this work the results have been analyzed and possible mechanisms of exciation for their explanation have seted out.
