ABSTRACT

This paper reviews the genetic studies on the grain quality in indica-japonica crosses of rice. The differences in grain quality traits between the indica and japonica subspecies of rice were summarized, and the difficulties in the research of these traits in indica-japonica crosses and methods to solve these problems were discussed. The application of mixed model approaches of genetic analysis in the study of grain quality traits in indica-japonica crosses was introduced and the progresses were summarized.
