ABSTRACT

Solid samples were attached to a paraffin impregnated pyrolytic grahite electrode by abrasion and a square wave anodic scan was applied in different media. The differences in the position of the peaks are related to the compound immobilized on the electrode. T-test was used to compare the mean values of the peak potentials and it was found that it is possible to distinguish PbSO4, PbCO3, lead white pigment and hydrocerussite in 1.0 M KNO3. Real samples with white coloured spots were analyzed using this procedure and the nature of the white areas was identified as PbSO4.
