Polylithium organic compounds can be prepared following the same methodologies as for single organolithium compounds: hydrogen-lithium exchange, heteroatom-lithium exchange and transmetalation being the most important. They exhibit fascinating structures, the stability of these systems depending on mainly the relative position of the lithium atoms and also on the hybridization of the carbon atom bonded to the lithium atoms.
