ABSTRACT

Electrochemical capacitors have received considerable attention as energy storage devices with high power.  The concept of electrochemical capacitors is given with contrast to rechargeable batteries.  The role and requirements for electrolyte materials in the electrochemical capacitors and their examples are given.  In particular, fundamental properties of organic liquid electrolytes and their current progress are described in detail.
