ABSTRACT
 
Rhubarb, as one of the most important Chinese herbal medicines, has been paid more and more attention for its quality control and thus guaranteed the safty and effectiveness of rhubarb usage. In this paper, the pharmacology of rhubarb was briefly reviewed and recent development of rhubarb quality control techniques were discussed. Near infrared spectrometry (NIRS) combined with various chemometric methods and artificial neural networks has been proved as fast efficient, and robust means for rhubarb quality control.
