ABSTRACT

Silicon-based hybrid organic-inorganic materials prepared by Sol-Gel chemistry can be solids with anisotropic organization at a sort or long-range order, it can also be extended on several micrometers. A combination of chemical and physical processes occurring from the molecular to the micrometer scale are involved.

From a general point of view, a control of the organisation of silicon-based hybrid material prepared by Sol-Gel chemistry is achievable by combining chemical processes at the molecular level and the physical evolution. This offers to the chemist a new area of investigation for a better comprehension and control of the solid’s organisation.
