Identity and concentration of anions being present during electropolymerization, doping and dedoping as well as overoxidation influence the behavior and the properties of polyaniline (PANI). The effects of the different properties of anions such as chemical nature, concentration, anion size and geometric structure on these structural and dynamic properties of PANI are reviewed.
