ABSTRACT

Study on the conjugated polymers as the new class of opto-electronic materials has been growing up rapidly because of their extended applications in next-generation of electronic devices, such as LED, photovoltaic cell and molecular sensors. We designed and synthesized two kinds of conjugated polymers: the alternating copolymer containing hole-transport moieties and conjugated aromatic units, and the hyperbranched polymers with different cores, connecting groups and terminal chromophores. All the conjugated polymers were characterized by MS, FTIR and NMR etc. The photophysical properties have been investigated systematically. LEDs, photovoltaic cells were fabricated using conjugated polymer as the active layers. The manufacture of ultra-thin films was obtained by spin-coating, self-assembly and Langmuir-Blodgett technique. The composition of conjugated polymer with inorganic nano-particles was studies both in solution and in film. All the results proved that our conjugated polymer could have applications in molecular electronics.
