The influence of the molecular structure and the nature of the solvent on the photophysical properties of amino-aromatic laser dyes is analyzed. The internal conversion process is specially treated since it competes with the emission deactivation, affecting the fluorescent capacity of the dyes. Several mechanisms proposed for the internal conversion of amino-aromatic dyes are discussed.
