ABSTRACT The development of asymmetric electrodes might afford an electrochemical alternative for the synthetic chemists to electrobiomimetic enzymatic processes, particularly in the formation of pure enantiomers from non-chiral precursors, mimicking their selectivity. This work will be focussed primarily in the results obtained by the electropolymerization of asymmetric heterocyclic chiral monomers to produce optically active polymer coated electrodes and its possibilities in electroorganic synthesis as asymmetric inductors in redox reactions of prochiral organic molecules.
